Opt Outside
Four days and three nights of simplicity. We will spend much of our time outside, rain or shine. And yes, there will likely be bugs! August in Minnesota can certainly be interesting. Sometimes we get lucky with zero bugs and perfect weather, but we cannot guarantee that of course. Rain gear, and bug spray are items included on the detailed packing list to registered attendees.
Lodging
The camp offers rustic bunkhouse accommodations. Simple and cozy, one step up from tent camping. We sleep in bunkhouses without electricity, with screened windows that let in fresh forest air.
You’ll bring your own bedding (a sleeping bag and pillow work perfectly). Each bunk includes a twin-size mattress and clean sheet.
After a full day of outdoor adventure, that little bunk bed will feel like a heavenly cloud.
Amenities
The shower house; with sinks, flushing toilets, and wonderfully hot showers, is located in a separate building just a short walk from the cabins. Yes, there is running water and hot showers!
During free time, enjoy:
Serene waterfront access
Secluded hiking trails
Wood-fired sauna
Giant waterslide
River swing
and more… woohoo!
The dining hall has electricity and Wi-Fi, plus drinking water available to refill water bottles.
Meals
All meals are enjoyed together in the dining hall, except for our day trip into the BWCA, when a bag lunch will be prepared for you to bring along.
Birchwood Wilderness Camp staff do an outstanding job preparing our meals. They even wash the dishes (thank you!). Dietary restrictions and allergies are thoughtfully accommodated, including vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, and more.
Yoga Classes
Yoga classes take place outdoors on a gorgeous, custom wood yoga deck overlooking the BWCA boreal forest treetops. In the event of inclement weather, we’ll move to an indoor space overlooking the Seagull River.
This setting invites both deep introspection and joyful connection within our intimate retreat community.
Classes are accessible to all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners.
