Group Trips are Chaos. Here’s a Better Way.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a group trip.
Do I want to go on a couple’s trip to Lake Tahoe? Yes. Do I want to do a girl’s surf trip to Nicaragua wearing matching swim shirts? Yes.
Trying to find a string of dates that works for 3+ people is the first hurdle.
Then let’s say your calendars do magically align, who is the one on the hook for booking the vrbo and airfare? Will everyone venmo right away, or will they wait until closer to the trip, or worse, bail at the last minute without paying.
How will you decide who stays in the biggest room, or the room with the view? Who plans the food? How will you accommodate everyone’s dietary needs.
Then there’s the itinerary. Who is booking outings and planning the hikes?
The invisible labor of planning trips can become overwhelming very quickly, especially if you are on the hook for putting all the expenses on your account and collecting payment from others. Quiet resentment can build.
Budget mismatches and scheduling challenges further complicate things.
Enter Boreal Bliss Yoga Retreats.
We started this business because we wanted to go on a girl’s trip to do a yoga retreat in Costa Rica but we couldn’t afford it. So we started hosting weekends in the Northwoods inclusive of yoga, outdoor adventures, healthy and delicious meals, and many accommodation options for your preferences. It turns out, Minnesota holds many magical little corners of land, water, and serenity.
This way, you can enjoy an all-planned getaway for yourself. Or invite 1 to 10 of your favorite people to join you. If it matches their schedule and their budget, great. If not, no sweat. Let us take care of planning all the fun, the dietary needs, and all the communications. No group texts pinging at all hours of day and night. The night owls can stay up late, the early risers can get up as early as they like. Whether you are coming to relax, or coming to adventure, you will find what you need. There’s no pressure.
Bryana has been planning our adventures in Boreal Bliss for ten years now. She’s organized to a level that we plan B types don’t have patience for, lol. I rarely read all the details Bryana sends out to retreaters, but I love that for those that require her level of detail, that detail is there. She even provides packing lists, which I’ve learned to live by!
What is really needed out of a group trip is usually ease, rejuvenation, relaxation, and no stress. Bryana takes on all the logistics so all you need to do is show up, with friends or on your own. You can arrive feeling held and cared for, rather than managing others or fearing falling short of anyone’s expectations. You can add on a massage or bodywork, which we often don’t have time for in the chaos of daily life.
One thing I guarantee, if you come with your oldest friends, or with someone you are just getting to know, you will leave feeling more organically connected. The retreat setting allows us to settle in our bodies, decompress, unwind, and laugh.
I am so appreciative of someone, other than myself, for having the passion for planning these weekends of fun and connection (thank you Bryana!). Retreats have enriched my life in countless ways. We all deserve time to get away from the stresses of life, be cared for, and take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health… and thanks to this long-held small business of Boreal Bliss Yoga Retreats, you can simply book without all the invisible labor and emotional work of planning and organizing a trip! Cherished memories ahead.
